Use the internet or your local library to research some common childhood illnesses in more detail.
Monitor local and national news for information about increased concern for particular illnesses e.g. measles, norovirus, meningitis etc. Make sure you know what precautions can be taken to reduce the likelihood of the illness affecting children and adults in your setting.
Find out about childhood immunisations and the illnesses they are aimed at. Consider why children are routinely immunised against these particular illnesses.
Click on the icon to the left and look again at UK Health Security Agency's document 'Health protection in children and young people settings, including education', which was originally looked at in the Reading section. Look for the information about risks to pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems. Consider how your setting could help advise and protect this group of people from the risks.
