Understand policies and procedures for health and safety in Early Years Settings

Case Study

Next week there is to be some health and safety training at your setting. You have been told to look through the setting’s health and safety manual that contains the health and safety policies and procedures before the meeting so that you understand what is being discussed. There is a lot of information there to read and remember.
  1. What strategies could you use to help you remember what policies and procedures your setting has that are concerned with health and safety?
  2. What should you do if you can’t remember what a particular health and safety policy or procedure says, or if you don’t understand it?
  3. How else might you prepare for the health and safety training that you are being given?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
