Be able to identify hazards in an Early Years Setting

Case Study
A mother has asked you to ensure that her child does not play on the climbing frame as she feels it is too high and her child may fall. She tells you that she never takes her child to the park to play on the swings and slides as she thinks it is too dangerous.
- What hazards might be present in an outdoor play area?
- What benefits would there be to the child in using the climbing frame?
- How might you respond to the mother’s request?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
