Case Study
Leanne is a childminder and is registered with an agency. A fellow childminder at the agency asks Leanne if she would like to share the role of SENCo with him. He tells her that legally, all childminding agencies must have at least two SENCo’s registered. This does not seem right to Leanne and she wants to find out whether that is the right guidance or not.
- What statutory guidance should Leanne turn to for the answer?
- Can Leanne be a SENCo if she is a childminder?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
