Case Study
A new practitioner has started working at your setting and, as room leader, you are introducing him to the 2 – 3 room where you work. As you talk to him you start to talk about the different environments you want your room to support. He explains he knows all about the different environments but he only talks about being indoors or outdoors.
- How would you explain to the practitioner that environment is not only about the physical environment
- How would you explain how the different environments support play?
- What philosophical approaches would you refer him to look into?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
