Case Study
Your primary school has a climbing frame in the playground that all children love to use. On looking through a catalogue you see that the age range for using the frame is over 8 years. The school has children from 5 to 11, and you are concerned that the climbing frame is a safety risk.
- How will you address the potential hazard relating to children under 8 using the climbing frame?
- What strategies will you put in place to ensure that children under 5 do not use the climbing frame?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
