Case Study
The teacher you work with has organising a trip to Windsor Castle for a group of 10 year olds. You have agreed to join the outing and help if needed. One child in the group is partially sighted, one child is in a wheelchair, and a couple of the children have told you their parents can’t afford it.
- Which of your setting’s policies and procedures would apply here?
- How can you ensure this trip is as inclusive as possible and what will you need to consider to ensure that everyone can actively participate?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
