Case Study
Sandrine and Alain have attended their local school for some time and they are due to take part in the annual two-night residential outdoor pursuits trip on the local authority two storey barge. Both young people have cerebral palsy and other medical needs, and both are non-independent wheelchair users.
Their support staff can handle their medical and personal care needs.
- What do you need to consider about getting to the barge?
- What do you need to consider about the accommodation?
- What do you need to consider about the activities?
- What would be the benefits to Sandrine and Alain, and to the other young people in their class?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
