Case Study
You are working with a group of 4 children and they are coming to the end of a science project where they had to investigate the properties of a number of materials and create a summary of their investigations and results. You have been asked to support the children to reflect on their learning and then produce a short report.
- How might you support the learners? Consider the following points.
- How would you start the process of encouraging the learners to reflect on their learning?
- What questions could you ask to help them to identify the progress they have made?
- How might the learners be helped to identify their learning needs for future science lessons?
- How would you explain the concept of learning strategies and how the learners might use them in their reflections?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
