Case Study
You work in a setting where staff are allowed to bring their mobile phones on to the premises. Most staff leave their phones in the staff room but some keep them with them throughout the day. However, due to the high profile cases of childcare workers and paedophilia associated with the use of mobile phones, parents have become anxious and asked the setting to rethink its mobile phone policy.
- How will you address parents’ concerns?
- What changes will you make to your current procedures?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
