Case Study
Oliver asked Rishi and Holly to assess their own work in order to develop their skills and gain a feeling of personal satisfaction.Rishi made a list of his duties and gave himself a grade: good, adequate or poor by each one. When he had finished he didn’t feel that he had learnt much or feel satisfied.Holly prepared a list of her personal and leadership skills and asked Oliver and her team for feedback on her performance. When she had finished she felt that she had learnt something and had a feeling of personal satisfaction.
- Why do you think they felt as they did?
- What has Holly achieved that Rishi has not?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
