Case Study
Rian is head of maintenance at Westwich Local Council and one part of his responsibilities is patrolling the council office car park checking vehicles are authorised to be parked there. He has noticed that a car has been parked in one of the ‘reserved’ bays for just over an hour and whilst he would ignore a car left for 10-15 minutes he is concerned that someone has left their car and perhaps gone shopping. The administration offices cover issuing car park passes – although Rian isn’t sure if the driver is parked illegally, or has just forgotten to display his /her pass or if someone on the admin team has been a little forgetful.
- What do you think Rian should do?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
