Develop a presentation

Case Study

Holly, who works as an apprentice administrator for Westwich Local Council, has been asked to develop a presentation to show to the rest of her team. The council have decided to pilot a new scheme whereby local elderly residents will be offered help to manage their gardens. The plan is for young unemployed people to work with the elderly residents weeding, mowing lawns and cutting back. These young people will not lose their benefits and may achieve a sense of purpose. They will also be helping the community. This is quite a task that Holly has been given as it is quite an innovative idea and it is important that the message is put to the staff correctly. It will be the admin team that has responsibility for managing the scheme. Whilst she has fairly competent presentation skills she is starting to panic a little because of the amount of work she has to do and the closeness of the deadline date for her presentation.
  1. What do you think Holly could do?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
