Lead practice that supports positive outcomes for child and young person development

Case Study

A new child has joined your setting. After a few weeks your colleague approaches you about signs of possible developmental delay and challenging behaviour the child or young person is displaying. The child's parent did not disclose any developmental or behaviour concerns during the initial settling in stage.
  1. Describe the action you will take next to ensure that the child or young person achieves positive outcomes.
  2. How will you ensure the child's and parent's participation?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
