Case Study

You are working with a family who have a young person who has a dual sensory loss and has extremely limited vision and hearing. You want to make sure your staff team support the family to use the communication systems in use in your setting so that they can communicate better with their child at home. In the past the family have resisted all attempts to use communication systems and have resigned themselves to being unable to communicate effectively with their child.

It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
