Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training

My teaching practice: Application of the theories and principles of teaching and learning
In the unit on ‘Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training’ learning theory was identified in relation to the needs of the learner. It is important to always consider the learner as an individual. What do they know and what do they need to know? Many aspects need to be taken into consideration when preparing teaching material including the learner’s goals and preferences as well as internal and external requirements.
Take a moment to consider what type of teacher do you want to be? One that devises the session because that is the way you want it to be or one that considers the theories learnt in relation to student learning. If you were asked what principles you apply to your teaching, would you be able to answer? Would you be able to give a theorist whose principles you believe in?
