Inclusive practice

'Ask Us, Hear Us, Include Us' is a film produced by the Young Ambassadors for Inclusion in Scotland. The professional learning resource comprises of the film, a PowerPoint presentation for a professional learning session and a professional learning guide. Through discussion and activities, the Young Ambassadors have identified the ways they feel schools are doing well in their provision of inclusive education and also where improvements could be made. The Young Ambassadors were keen to share their views on what works in inclusive education. They decided to create a film which could allow their views to be heard and help staff understand how to support young people with additional support needs.

The ‘How Was School?’ project looks at Disabled People’s experiences of education over the last 100 years through the telling and recording of personal memories and histories of school. This project captures the changing educational experience of disabled people over the last century with the aim of creating a timeline of change to a more inclusive and empowering approach where disabled children and young people are valued and welcomed into their local school and communities. Look at the timeline for relevant legislation and individual’s experiences.
