Mrs Smith has just moved into Ashby Court nursing home where you are a member of the care team. Mrs Smith has recently been discharged from hospital following a stroke; she has been transferred to Ashby Court for rehabilitation. The physiotherapist has sent details of exercises to be carried out with Mrs Smith. It was Saturday when Mrs Smith was admitted to Ashby Court and the physiotherapist will not be in again until Tuesday. Mrs Smith is very reluctant to do her exercises and gets very distressed. 1. How you would support Mrs Smith? 2. Why you think it is necessary to do exercises set by the professionals every day? It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary.
