Lead children’s early education and development

Case Study

You become aware of a discussion being held between two practitioners in your setting regarding the term ‘sustained shared thinking’. To help clarify what it means, you decide to research it further and deliver a 15-minute training session at your next staff meeting.
  1. How could you explain sustained shared thinking to your team?
  2. What examples of sustained shared thinking have you witnessed in your setting?
  3. What do you consider to be effective strategies that enable children to develop and extend sustained share thinking?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
