Case Study

You have a new project that you want to implement in your setting: setting up a yoga class for all able individuals once a week.
  1. Think through this proposal and write a summary of it and how you envisage it working.
  2. How will you explain the project to staff and get them on board?
  3. What will be their role in the project and what training will they receive, if any?
  4. How will you explain it to relatives and get them on board?
  5. How will you explain it to the individuals in your care and get them on board?
  6. A senior member of staff comes to you with an alternative proposal to consider
Discuss this with the member of staff and get them to write a detailed proposal as you have done and then critically analyse the two, coming up with a clear way to present your findings to everyone in a way that encourages them to support the chosen project. If you have no one to work with on this, create another whole proposal in the same way as the first, you will find this very interesting and hugely beneficial in being sure as to which is the best project to present. When going through this process be sure to record your findings and your decision making process, reflecting on your current and past practices, and drawing on these experiences to support your decision making. It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that your response will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
