Case Study

A water play activity was prepared by a practitioner which gave children the ‘big bigger’ containers that hold water. When evaluating how well the activity met the children’s developmental needs, the practitioner concluded that it was too difficult for the group of 2 year olds she was working with and that they had no concept of these terms.
  1. Were the practitioner’s conclusions correct?
  2. Was the activity appropriate for the age group?
  3. What other water play activity might have been suitable?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
