Be able to support children and young people’s positive behaviour

Case Study

Your setting is writing a Positive Behaviour Policy and you have been asked to make a contribution to this by writing a behaviour code of conduct that adults and children should follow in the setting. For example, ‘We don’t say unkind things about each other.’
  1. What key points would you put into your code of conduct?
  2. Would you have the same rules for adults and children?
  3. How would you introduce the code to children so that they understand the expectations you have for them?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
