Be able to support children and young people's positive behaviour

Case Study

Tamar is 2 years old and is a perpetual biter! He has bitten 3 children this week and the parents of the injured children are very cross. They demand that Tamar is removed from the setting or they will take their child away from the setting.
  1. What will you say to the parents who are demanding that Tamar is removed from the setting?
  2. What strategies will you put in place to protect the children who are being bitten?
  3. How will you enlist the support of staff?
  4. How would you adjust the strategies you used if Tamar was 7 or if he were 12 with a learning disability?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
