Case Study
You have been asked to mentor two pupils from your old school who want to become nannies. One is 14 and about to choose their GCSE exams subjects. The other is 16 and is trying to decide whether to do A levels, having got 5 good academic GCSEs, or look for work caring for children.
- How would you advise the 14-year-old?
- How would you advise the 16-year-old?
- How would you explain the steps to take in planning to become a nanny?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
