Preparing for your next steps

Case Study

Sonnjit is just 18 years old and has decided to drop out of college; she wanted to do her A levels but she has not found the learning very easy. What she wants now is a job, with real money, a title, respect and an opportunity to get on a career path. Sonnjit has a few GCSE’s but they do not include maths. She wants to eventually make a career as a day nursery manager/owner. While she was at school Sonnjit did work experience for 2 weeks in the crèche at a fitness club, helping with children aged from 3 months to 6 years. Other than that she has no childcare experience, and does not know anyone who is part of the childcare sector workforce.

  2. Things to consider as you answer this question are:

It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
