Case Study

Imagine you have a 6 month and 9 month old baby to look after who are awake at the same time.What game could you play together to keep them both interested for a short time. Think about whether they would need to be sitting, lying down, in a high chair etc.

1. Do they need any equipment? If so, do you have two of everything you need?
2. Have you thought about sounds or language to accompany the game or activity?
3. Will this activity / game exclude or disturb any other children in the room?

It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
