Case Study

Sita has learning disabilities and also has Down’s syndrome. She lives in supported housing and as her key worker you are helping her prepare for her person-centred review. You have not done this before and are a bit unsure about how to do it. A colleague suggests that you try out one of the person-centred thinking tools on yourself as she thinks that might help you. 1. Do you think it will help you or not? Briefly explain your reasons. It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
