Be able to meet professional responsibilities by reflecting on own performance and practice

Case Study

You work with a colleague who doesn't seem very interested in improving his practice. He always says that he doesn't have the time to reflect on his practice and he gets very defensive when others try to offer him feedback. His line manager is based in a different building and he always puts on a display of being interested in improving practice when she is around, only to drop the pretence as soon as she has left.
  1. How would you show your colleague the importance of reflective practice?
  2. How could you encourage him to seek and learn from feedback?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
