The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is responsible for making sure that health and adult social care providers, and other regulators, maintain a safe environment for the management and use of controlled drugs in England. We do this under the Controlled Drugs (Supervision of Management and Use) Regulations 2013. These regulations were amended on 1 April 2020 to the Controlled Drugs (Supervision of Management and Use) (Amendment) Regulations 2020.The amendment removed the ‘sunset clause’ and included the task of reviewing the regulations within five years.
