- ‘Exploring Corporate Strategy’ by Gerry Johnson, Richard Whittington , Kevan Scholes, Douglas Angwin, Patrick Regnér. Published by Pearson (10th edition 2013). This book looks at ‘The Strategic Position’. ‘Strategic Choices’ and ‘Strategy in Action’. NB You should be able to borrow this book from your library.
- ‘Competitive Advantage’ by Michael E Porter looks at competitive strategies, the principles of competitive advantage and and how it impacts on corporate strategy. The book was published by Free Press in 2004. NB You should be able to borrow this book from the library.
- Listen to the podcasts on ‘Transformation’ and ‘Planning for the Future’ from the BBC Bottom Line programme. Many of the other podcasts will be relevant to this course.
- Frederick Betz has written ‘Strategic Thinking: A Comprehensive Guide’, published by Emerald Group Publishing Limited in 2016. Read chapter 3 ‘Strategic Management’ and chapter 10 ‘Strategic Planning’. NB You should be able to borrow this from your local library.
- Think And Challenge
- It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
