Case Study
You are planning a surprise birthday party for someone you share a house with, and guests will be coming from all over the world. You do not want phone calls and post coming to the house, as you want to keep the party a surprise.
Guests who are coming by car will need driving instructions. Guests who are using the train will need train times and the local station names. Guests who are flying into the country will need information about how to get from the airport to the venue. All of the guests may want local hotel and taxi information.
-
Where can you find the information you need?
- Why do you need to consider the Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy and Purpose of the information?
- What IT-based communications could you use to contact the guests?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
