Case Study

You have been asked by a family member to help them set up some internet accounts. They want to be able to receive emails, access their bank account, and to do some shopping. They also have two young children and they have asked you about the dangers on the internet and how to protect the family.
  1. What safety and security practices do you need to tell them about?
  2. How could you help them set up strong and secure passwords?
  3. What advice could you give them about keeping personal information secure?
  4. What information can you give them about the threats to user safety?
  5. What information can you give them about blocking websites and parental controls?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
