You have 3 traveller children and their parents arrive at your family centre and you know nothing about their background, practices and culture.
- In addition to talking to the children’s parents, how might you find out about the travellers’ culture and philosophy?
- What changes to your practice might you need to make to ensure that the children and the family can feel fully included?
- How will you help the children to settle in and what will you tell the other children about the traveller children’s background?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
