Know the main responsibilities of workers and employers for health and safety in health, social care and children’s and young people’s settings

Make a list of all the key areas of health and safety that you need to be aware of when you start a new job. Some of them will be things you need to be shown, like where the fire escapes are, and others you will need to be trained on. Add to your list of key areas whether you think you will need training or just to be shown. It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
