Be able to maintain person- centred records of participation.

Case Study

Jenna is very good at keeping the participation records and participation summary up to date. It has been noted that Morris’s participation in daily tasks has been steadily increasing for two months, but in this current month his participation has taken a sudden drop. For example, he has not made his bed once in the last two weeks and he has refused to help peel the potatoes for tea on several occasions. This is surprising as these seem to be tasks that Morris enjoys doing.
  1. Why is it important for Jenna to keep these records?
  2. What would you think the problem might be if you were Jenna, and how would you approach Morris to talk about it?
  3. What could Jenna do to help Morris increase his participation again?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
