Understanding health and safety in the business workplace

Consider your current health and safety arrangements at your organisation and ask yourself: 1. What are your organisational procedures for the health and safety induction of new staff? 2. How robust are the health and safety monitoring procedures in your workplace? 3. How often is everyone informed of changes to legislation/regulation relating to health and safety? 4. What improvements could you implement? In regards to your organisational risk assessments: 5. When were they last updated? 6. What evidence is there that the entire workforce has been made aware of the policies and reporting procedures? Evaluate the effectiveness of the systems in place: 7. How can you make them more effective? It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
