Be able to identify a solution to a business problem

Case Study

James is employed by his local council to help in the invoicing department. He has noticed that a number of small clients are still being issued with hand-written invoices. This is causing problems for record keeping and for chasing payment.
  1. If you were James, what tools would you need to identify a solution to the business problem?
  2. Is this a problem James can solve alone or what kind of support might he need from others?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
