Case Study
You are a new room leader and you observe that staff have not identified developmental delays in the children they care for, therefore, they are preparing activities for children that are the same for each child. Some children find the activities too easy and, through boredom, they are not behaving very well. Some children are unable to do the activities and are, therefore, not getting the most from the experiences on offer.
- How will you explain to staff what you have observed?
- What strategies will you ask the staff to put in place to monitor children and take appropriate action to meet their individual needs appropriately?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
