Case Study
You have been working with two other teaching assistants to develop a ‘playground games’ culture for children at playtimes. The objective is for children to learn games that will encourage them to work co-operatively at break times and reduce accidents, bullying and aggressive play. You plan to hold a session for the staff and pupils to teach them some games but you hear third hand that some of the staff are not too keen on joining in and have told the head teacher so.
- How will you address the issue and establish the facts?
- How might you ensure that you still achieve the objectives?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
