Case Study
Mrs Andrews has been admitted to the nursing home with a large pressure ulcer on her buttock. Her main carer Liu, has come to work today with a heavy cold. As she changes Mrs Andrew’s sheets she sneezes, uses her handkerchief and places this loosely up her long sleeve. Then she proceeds to roll Mrs Andrews onto a clean sheet.

Think of an infection that is very common in care settings today and explain why this may be so common.
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong.
