Case Study

Phil is finding that there are less and less hours in the day, the workload is the same but he feels more rushed than ever. He finds himself eating his lunch at his workstation, and feels demotivated during the last two hours of his shift.
He works in a busy office environment with lots of noise and distractions, this he feels has some detrimental impact on his workload. Plus one of his colleagues asks him for help on a regular basis and this is also eating up his time, but he doesn't want to come across as rude so is always ready to help.
- Is Phil taking appropriate breaks and how is that impacting his performance?
- What can Phil do to manage his time better?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
