Sharing learning experiences with children

Case Study

You want to provide an outdoor learning experience in a local woodland area for a nine-month-old crawling baby and a two-year-old toddler.
  1. What health and safety issues will you need to consider?
  2. How will the ages of the children and the stages of their development impact on what activities you will do with them?
  3. How will the weather impact on what you decide to do for your activities?
  4. How will you record what the children have done?
  5. How could you extend the activity at home to increase learning and enjoyment?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
