Case Study
A room leader in the 2 - 3 room has recently left the setting and you have been promoted to take her place.
Your setting manager has made it clear that the room is uninspiring and needs to be completely re-organised. Rome wasn’t built in a day and you cannot tackle everything at once, so you decide to start on the book area.
- Describe what an effective book area would look like.
- List the resources you would need.
- What would you need to tell the staff about the way that you hope the area will be used and how they can support children’s learning here?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
