In their 2005 Report 'Violence and What to Do About It', The Wave Trust published the results of 9 years of research into the causes of violence. They believe that “A major factor in the development of the propensity to be violent is a lack of empathy. Empathy is a powerful antidote to violence.” So if good attachment leads to empathy, good attachment can lead to a reduction in the likelihood of violent behaviour as a child grows up.
