Case Study

One of your peers is on his first week working in health and social care.
He made a comment that one of the clients he has been working with seems to do nothing but complain all the time. When you ask him what exactly the gentleman was complaining about he is unable to tell you.
- How would you respond to the revelation that he does not know what his client was complaining about?
- How can you explain the importance of taking all concerns and complaints seriously as a way of reducing the risk of abuse?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
