Recruitment and selection within health and social care or children and young people’s settings
Imagine you are a business manager for Appletree Lane Care Home and are looking to hire a new part-time receptionist. Ideally, you would like someone with experience of an administrative role in the health and social care sector.

- Write a job advert that you think would attract the best candidates. The advert should include the key duties of the receptionist and important details of the role (pay range, hours, etc.).
- What skills, experience, and qualities would you consider to be essential and desirable?
- Imagine a candidate for the role has accepted the interview request and after conducting the interview, you feel like they are not well suited for the role. How would you communicate this to them?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
