Case Study
It is the summer term and your setting is having an open day for existing and prospective parents and children. You have been asked to prepare a list of foods and drinks you can offer.
Your setting has families from a range of cultural and religious backgrounds, and includes several children with food allergies and intolerances.
- Think about the food and drinks you can offer that would meet the needs of a group that included Hindus, Muslims, and vegans.
- How can you make sure that people do not eat foods that are prescribed or dangerous for them?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
