Understand the principles of inclusive practice

Case Study

Lucinda is about to write the setting policy for inclusive practice in the setting. She had been marked down by OFSTED for not having an up to date inclusive practice policy and because staff, all of whom were behaving in a fully inclusive way and were providing very good inclusive activities, did not know if there was a policy or what it contained.
  1. What should Lucinda include?
  2. How could she make her staff aware of the new policy and its content?
  3. How can she be sure all staff have read and understood it once written?
  4. Why is a written policy necessary?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
