Case Study
You are working with a new teacher who is running an after school French class, as you are fluent in that language. You have noticed that the teacher has not checked the school’s information about children with additional needs, and realise that she is preparing the same activities for each of the children.
Some children find the activities too easy and, through boredom, they are not behaving very well. Some children are unable to do the activities and are, therefore, not getting the most from the experiences on offer.
- How can you discuss this with the teacher?
- What strategies can you suggest you use to monitor and support each child?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
