Be able to contribute to reviews of behaviour and behaviour policies

Case Study

You have come from a school where the children’s behaviour was good to a school where the behaviour is challenging. The other staff seem very resigned to the situation, and because you have raised the issue with the Head Teacher, he has asked you to talk to staff about your observations of discipline strategies at the school and ways in which they could be improved.
  1. What will you say to the staff?
  2. What suggestions and ideas will you bring to your meeting?
  3. How will you gain their commitment to change (i.e. what are the benefits for them?)
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
